“Building Communities from the Roots Up”

CTree Projects - Spring 2013

Town of Carpendale

April 22, 2013

The Town of Carpendale received 24 flowering trees to plant along their newly created Rail-to-Trail walking path in Mineral County, WV. Many trail users have asked the mayor to plant trees at this location to shade the trail during the hot summer months. This tree planting took place on April 22nd with the assistance of Jessica Wise, Urban Forester for WV Division of Forestry. Mulch was donated from a local source and spread around the trees by a local Girl Scout troop. The Mayor and town staff has been monitoring the trees, mulch levels and soil moisture daily on weekdays to make sure the soil does not get too dry.

A note from the Project Leader, Mayor Armentrout:

“The best part of the project was having readily available technical support and assistance from the CTree Liaison.”
